Malech’s History
It was a small stream which ran through the woods and beside it were mountains . Then in the Khmer Rouge Regime about in 1977 they ordered too many people to build up a dam that connected from one side of the mountain to another side in order to keep water for farming . All the people worked really extremely hard carrying soil up to fill the place where they needed to make the dam. Thousands of people worked free of charge with a little bit meal every day and many died at work. The dam was completely ready in that regime and it was called “Mlech” according to the village there.
After the Khmer Rouge Regime this place was forgotten and many people have not known , only the people who live there because this area was still ruled by the Khmer Rouge and in 1993 this has been controlled by the Government then we could go there on foot or cart through the forest along the narrow path . Next in 2003 the government built the path to get there from nation route number 3 and the dam was repaired and opened to let the people to visit , so there are many people have moved and had families there . Most of them do the farming using water in the dam. It’s easy to go there by your vehicle , all sorts ļ It becomes an interesting , amazing place now.

I've been to this place twice couple years ago when during the recent opening years. I think I like the lake and the surrounding area by the mountain site.
